ContactSwipe — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
ContactSwipe helps you tidy your phone's contact list. It is built local-first, by design:
What we collect: nothing. ContactSwipe has no internet permission — the Android operating system physically prevents the app from sending any data anywhere. There is no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising SDK, and no crash reporting.
Contacts access. The app reads your device contacts to show them to you for review, and modifies your contact list only when you explicitly archive or restore a contact. The app itself never sends contact data anywhere.
Local archive. When you archive a contact, a complete copy is stored in an encrypted database on your device, for up to 30 days, so you can restore it. After 30 days (or when you choose "Delete forever"), it is permanently deleted.
Encrypted phone backup (reinstall protection). If you have turned on your phone's Android backup, Android can include a copy of your archive, the list of contacts you chose to keep, and your app settings in that backup — so they come back if you reinstall ContactSwipe or move to a new phone. ContactSwipe only allows this when the backup is end-to-end encrypted (Android 9 or later with a screen lock set): it is encrypted with your phone's screen-lock PIN, pattern or password, so neither Google nor we can read it. It is also allowed for a direct phone-to-phone transfer. If your phone's backup is not end-to-end encrypted, ContactSwipe's data is left out of it entirely. Restored archive copies keep their original 30-day deadline. You can turn Android backup off at any time in your phone's settings; without it, uninstalling the app deletes the archive with it.
Synced accounts. If a contact is synced with an account (such as Google), archiving it also removes it from that account, exactly as deleting it in your Contacts app would. Your account provider may keep its own trash/recovery (Google Contacts keeps deleted contacts for 30 days at contacts.google.com/trash).
Third parties. No data is shared with, sold to, or processed by any third party. The app makes no network connections of any kind.
Children. ContactSwipe does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes. If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this same address before an app update takes effect.
